I have no idea what I’m doing – Part 2:

I’ve had so many people come up to us and tell us how excited they are for us!

We’ve also been asked a TON of questions about how we are planning this trip – and what we want to accomplish.

After much conversation, we figured ALASKA would have to happen first – or not at all.

We’ll only have a short window of opportunity while the weather is good & the roads are safe – and we’ll need to be in the lower 48 and able to connect to reliable internet in September so the kids can keep up on their schooling…..so, Northward Bound it is!  We want to make it to Fairbanks sometime in early July, and have decided to ramble North, stopping off at Custer State Park in South Dakota, The Grand Tetons in Montana, and Yellowstone in Wyoming as we go.

We’ve discovered an online mapping site called RV Trip Wizard.  (which you can connect to and check out here!)  With that tool, combined with great advice from fellow traveling friends, Jeff & Denise Sigworth (THANKS GUYS!), we’ve begun to sketch out our route to Fairbanks, Denali National Park, Anchorage, and Seward.

Instead of focusing on itineraries, we want to keep our GOALS in mind:

1 – Enjoy the journey!

2 – Take enough time to let ourselves absorb the landscape, the food, and the people in the areas we visit.

3 – And be a blessing.

That third goal is so important – Because I know that this is something that GOD wants us to do.  He made that So clear (read about that here)

A friend from church said she was excited that we are leaving to be “Traveling Missionaries” – and I was a little taken aback by that.   I certainly don’t consider us “Missionaries” – HOWEVER, I do feel strongly about starting each day with this prayer –  “Lord, please open our eyes to how you want to use us to love others today.”

I pray that often….because I’m convinced that this life isn’t about fulfilling our dreams, climbing the ladder, having the nicest stuff, the best selfie, or being recognized – it’s about lifting people up, giving them hope, including the lonely, standing up for those who have been beaten down, speaking up for the voiceless.  It’s about being a LIGHT in the world.

In my day to day life, I’ve been so blown away with how God answers that simple prayer by giving me opportunities to help others – and the feeling that comes along with knowing you brought LIGHT into someone’s darkness is beyond description.

I want my kids to see God work in that simple way.

But we also want to plan some intentional times of serving as a family – and that is where we really need your help today.

If you know of a mission organization that could use some helping hands, a Camp, a School, an Orphanage….Please let us know!

I know that many of you have given of your time and resources to support some really amazing work here in the U.S. – and we want to hear from you, connect with & encourage the people who are serving in these organizations, and tell the stories of what God is doing in and through His Church here in our country.

So, please leave us a comment – and if you can pass along a website or contact info for an organization that our family can bless, we’ll contact them, make plans, and share with you.

And if you know of others that could point us in the right direction, any friend of yours is a friend of ours.

We treasure your input, and your prayers.

Here’s to the journey!
